Word Document Format PDF conversion

Document Services 2.2 supports converting Microsoft® Word format templates (*.rtf and *.docx) to PDF documents after assembly. Now, when you download a document, Document Services presents you with a dialog where you can choose between your native word format or the PDF format.

When converting an RTF document to PDF, HotDocs uses a built-in PDF converter, which analyzes the codes contained in the RTF file and translates them to PDF. This differs from the method used by other third-party PDF converters, which rely on an instance of Microsoft Word on the server from which the document is "printed" using a driver to create the PDF document. PDF documents created using a PDF driver can typically handle a greater number of formatting variations, while the PDF conversion method used by HotDocs Cloud Services works best for documents with simpler formatting. As HotDocs uses Cloud Services' built-in PDF conversion, some formatting differences will exist between the original RTF and the PDF.

Client Interview Force PDF Download

In previous versions of Document Services, firm users could send a client interview and enable the client to download the assembled document set. In an expansion on that feature, Document Services 2.2 enables administrators to "Force PDF download for finished document" for a template. Any client interviews for this template produce a read only PDF version of the assembled document set, instead of a Word format document.

Cloud Services 11 / HotDocs Developer 11 support

Document Services 2.1 supports HotDocs Developer 11 functionality to provide new features such as parameter passing, docx format templates, and current answer file answer sources.

Shared answer files

We’ve added support for the answer file and overlay answer commands to allow easier sharing of common answers throughout your Document Services account.
This means you can share answers across document sets or use them to provide common answer sources. This ensures that you can populate shared answers into those interview sessions that require them.

Default permissions for new items

This feature enables administrators to set up rules to apply permissions to new items at creation time, enabling enterprise level control over user access.

Optional Client for a document

Document Services 2.1 streamlines assembly for internal use by removing the need to store a client against a document.

Import Clients

Document Services 2.1 enables you to import a large list of clients from a comma-separated value (CSV)  file. This feature enables you  to quickly pass client lists into your Document Services account.
